Tesla 369 Cup –

The first global sports competition
inspired by Nikola Tesla

Six nations that shaped Tesla’s history come together for the first time —
not as rivals of the past, but as partners in a shared future.

A competition that unites nations and ignites visions

The Tesla 369 Cup is no ordinary sporting event.

It unites what Nikola Tesla stood for: networking, a spirit of the future, and human progress.

Six nations come together – countries that were part of Tesla’s life journey: from his origins to his global impact.

This unique fusion of sport, technology, and culture creates a global symbol of collaboration.

The Tesla 369 Cup begins once again in Smiljan:

a relay race tracing the milestones of Nikola Tesla’s life, unfolding from its origins into the world.

Croatia – an international stage for sport and culture

The Cup will be held in stadiums throughout Dalmatia and at selected locations across Croatia.

Football pitches, tennis courts, and basketball arenas provide the backdrop for international teams and guests.

Croatia thus becomes an open stage for encounters, movement, and future-oriented ideas – in the spirit of Tesla, under the banner of togetherness.

These six nations shaped Nikola Tesla’s life journey – from his European roots to his global impact.
For the first time, they do not appear as separate chapters of a single history, but as shared actors in a new game.
What was once a question of origin (“Who does Nikola Tesla belong to?”) is transformed here into a bridge:
From Smiljan to New York – a tournament that connects where borders once stood.
A competition that reminds us that Tesla’s legacy is greater than any national affiliation – and that progress emerges when people join their strengths.

THE ORIGIN OF A WORLD CITIZEN

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 in the village of Smiljan, in the Military Frontier of the Habsburg Monarchy, in the territory of present-day Croatia. He came from a Serbian Orthodox family, but grew up in a region that was culturally Croatian and under the administration of the Habsburg Monarchy.

Today, Smiljan is home to a memorial site dedicated to Nikola Tesla. His family house has been restored and is part of a museum.

CURIOSITY BECOMES A VOCATION

Tesla attended the Higher Real Gymnasium in Karlovac, where he gained his first access to physics, mathematics, and technical experiments.
Here, the question began to take shape that would define his life: How does energy work – and how can it be set free?

THE SPARK OF VISION

In Graz, Austria, Tesla studied at the Imperial and Royal Polytechnic, one of the most renowned technical institutions in Europe.
Here he saw the Gramme dynamo, passionately debated with professors, and for the first time sketched the idea of a motor-driven alternating current system—long before the world was ready for it.

His later words capture precisely this spirit:
“The present is theirs; the future, for which I truly worked, is mine.”

Graz was the place where this future began.

INSPIRATION & TRANSITION TO THE WORLD

In Budapest, Tesla experienced one of his most famous insights:
While walking in the city park, he envisioned the rotating magnetic field—the core of the later alternating current motor.

Paris subsequently became his technical springboard. For the Continental Edison Company (Thomas Edison pictured), he worked on generators, lighting systems, and electrical installations. Here he gained his first capital, influence, and international contacts—enough to dare the bold step across the Atlantic.

These years were Tesla’s bridge between Europe and the world.

THE WORLD IN ALTERNATING CURRENT

With only four cents in his pocket, Tesla arrived in New York in 1884. He developed key foundations of the alternating current motor and the polyphase system, and experimented with high frequency, wireless transmission, turbines, and wireless energy. New York became his laboratory, his platform, and the starting point of a global legacy.

Here he shaped the sentence that could just as well express the attitude of GalaxiPark:
“The desire that guides my actions is the wish to place the forces of nature in the service of mankind.”

New York was not only Tesla’s center of activity—it was the beginning of a global legacy that today unites six nations in competition.
